Projects

On this page you will find my projects I have worked on either alone or in a group. These projects will include ones done during school as well as outside of school. Below is a demo reel I have made that showcases some of my previous work.

Codename QuickBeats

This is a re-make of a game made for UOIT's game development workshop. A top down space shooter game originally made in a custom OpenGL engine is now re-made in Unity3D.

The game is only available on the play store at the moment and will soon be available on the iTunes app store. To download and try the game, click the link below or alternatively search on the app store: "Codename Quickbeats"

Serenity

This is a 3D virtual environment game made with the dean of the faculty of education at UOIT. My role in this project was being the project leader. The team consisted of 4 people and the game met client requirements as well as the scope.

The idea behind Serenity was to make a game in which individuals with brain related injuries can engage with while still maintaining cognitive rest. The team did research and found through secondary sources that individuals with brain related injuries need cognitive rest. This means that they should not do anything that stimulates the brain. This includes playing games. The team used the MindWave Mobile brainwave headset to track stimulation in the form of attention and meditation. In the end, it was found that the game is still moderate in attention. Even if the game is serene and not action packed, the brain is still stimulated. These values were tested with other games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive and were proven to be lower. Although the stimulation was not as high as action games, it was still not low enough to keep perfect cognitive rest.

Panda Knight

The game Panda Knight is an isometric view fighting game with cartoon-style graphics. This was made with a team of 5 people using a custom OpenGL/C++ engine. My role in this project was doing programming as well being the project leader. Most notably, I was solely in charge of programming shaders as well as sound for the game. Other programming parts include game-play elements such as programming the menu, movement and HUD. In the video at the top of the page you can see footage near the end from 1:17 until 1:45.

Boids

This was a project done to showcase particle boids in Unity. Footage of the particles in action can be seen in the video on the top of the page from 0:06 until 0:27. The skybox as well as the sword are from the Unity Asset Store and they do not belong to me.

Shaders

In my time at UOIT, I have done a lot of work using a custom OpenGL/C++ engine. I've learned how to program shaders using GLSL and below you can see pictures of some of the work I have done. Also, in the video up at the top of the page is the rendered showcase in video form.
